Being a determined and focused woman, she advanced her education and attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis where she received a doctorate in educational psychology. She then attended Montana State University Billings and graduated with a master’s degree in special education in 1975. Later, she joined Whitman College in Walla Walla Washington.
